OSCARS FASHION: Plus Size Edition: What dress did I wear today?
WARDROBE CHANGE: I changed into the dress shortly before some of the Pre-Oscars parties including a special event by Wolfgang Puck but in time to rock the red carpet.
Every plus size woman - and even a few that didn't look plus size but swore they were - asked me about the dress. I'm excited to discuss. #TheHollywoodRoosevelt
Soooo….here's "Dress #1"

SPANX DON'T FAIL ME NOW: Finding a plus size formal dress is risky business
![]() |
| 80s PROM DRESS ANYONE? Not me. I can't want to share my dress with you. |
That was until I had to get dressed for the upcoming 88th Annual Academy Awards also known as "The Oscars." Jesus take the wheel! Who knew how much work goes into these darn things. As a reporter, I get a press release, I RSVP, show up, snack on the cucumber and sandpaper sandwiches and wash it all down with diet champagne. I write a post, snap some pics and interview a designer who acts like he built the pyramids. Finally, I go home and try to forget what I just experienced.
Now that I'm required to wear a tea lengthen dress (what the heck is that?), I have a new found appreciation for all the people I used to refer to as dimwits. Considering that I do not have a glam squad, cannot fit into a "sample size" dress (that would be size 2 to the rest of us) and aren't exactly winning an fashion challenges, I know that I've misjudged the process. I found myself wishing I could buy a glam squad by putting two quarters in the bubble gum machine at Kmart.
For days, I pulled out my hair fretting over what to wear. Thank goodness for some of the most amazing plus size fashion houses on the planet. I won't have to look like I'm wearing an eighties prom dress. I'll actually look great, that is if my spanx don't fail me, my booty pads arrive in time and I can find the right bra. (wink)
In true Oscars fashion, I cannot share the dress details until the big night. You know, they call it "The Reveal." but I'm excited to say that I'll be able to share with you my journey and help you bypass the stress and go straight to the exact place I went to for my Oscar fashion. Stay tuned!

HELP! I'm going to the OSCARS and I have NOTHING to wear...LITERALLY!
(www.FatGirlLovesCake.com) - I'm excited to announce I've been officially approved by the Academy of Motion Pictures to cover the 2016 Oscars in Los Angeles, CA. I'm really excited about the chance to discuss plus size fashion, shoes for all women and of course to taste the delicious food that I know will be available.
Wolfgang Puck's party sounds delicious with culinary surprises waiting at every corner. Vanity Fair is sure to delicious with tasty bite sized - or should I say model-sized - treats. But the big meal I'm looking forward to will happen during Pre-Oscar events before we all have to stuff ourselves into our gowns.
I'm reaching out to some of my favorite stores to help me get dressed for the big day. There's one in particular I hope will say yes. Stay tuned to find out what store I'm talking about.

NBA WIVES and GIRLFRIENDS: Meet the Wives and Girls of Golden State Warriors
(FatGirlLovesCake.com) - From time-to-time, I spend time with NBA and NFL WAGs (Wives and Girlfriends) at events, parties or the games. Many of them know me because I'm always taking pictures of their outfits and of course their shoes.
Recently as basketball sensation Steph Curry and the Warriors blew through Madison Square Garden to play the New York Knicks, I caught up with Steph but missed his wife. (Video coming) I did catch up with WAG Ciara and her NFL boyfriend, Russell Wilson, as they hung out with Carmelo Anthony's wife, LaLa Anthony. I also ran into a few other WAGS, but I'll have to get to them a little later.
For now, here's an interview with KARINA BIANCA, who is a Warriors WAG. As you'll see, she's verynice, which his opposite of what reality TV shows portray these women. I've been lucky to get to know dozens of them and I can tell you, reality TV is not always reality.

YUMMY: I'm writing my first cookbook
(www.FatGirlLovesCake.com) - My mom was the ultimate cook, baker and candlestick maker. Ok, so I just threw the candlestick maker in but man could my mom cook and bake. Because I was always home with her, she taught me just about everything she knows.
As I want to share that love with my own little one, I started teaching her recipes that my mom taught me. Lil Mama is quick the little chef, especially when it comes to bread pudding. Ironically, I didn't teach her that one. She just kinda came up with it on her own.
When tragedy forced us from New York City to the middle of nowhere Indiana, we had little else to do but watch corn grow, swim in the pool and bake. When we're together, it's like a giggly, fun slumber party. I still work in New York City so I have to commute back and forth - plus fight a nasty custody battle - so when we're apart, I bake, cook and write down recipes.
That's why the cookbook is so important to me. I want to make sure Lil Mama knows her heritage and there's no more delicious way to teach her than through food.
You can pre-order my cookbook beginning February 2, 2016, which is also Lil Mama's birthday. I'll also be selling some of the things in my cookbook, but mostly cakes, about once a month or so. I don't want to get baker's burnout because I bake from scratch using butter, flour, sugar and eggs.
Can't wait for us to get together and bake something delicious!

CLASSIC: I was an invited guest at the O'Jays/Gladys Knight concert
(www.FatGirlLovesCake.com) - You know you've arrived when you get a private invitation to attend the O'Jays/Gladys Knight concert in New York City. It was certainly a rare treat.
I was invited to bring a guest to attend the O'Jays/Gladys Knight concert at the famous Beacon Theater. Although it was sold out, I was excited to be escorted into a private entrance and given an All Access pass.
The O'Jays should be called "The Hitmakers" because their concert was hit after hit after hit.
